Who is Thomas Daubon ?

Dr. Thomas Daubon is a CNRS research director and leader of a group working on metabolic plasticity in glioblastoma, Dr. Daubon has also been appointed scientific director of the histopathology facility at the University of Bordeaux. With expertise in cellular biology and histology, particularly in brain tumors, he is advancing spatial biology techniques for detailed tissue analysis. Due to new location of the histopathology facility in the Bordeaux biology health building,
Dr. Daubon is fostering collaboration with many different scientific teams from diverse topics (cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience). His leadership aims to position the facility at the forefront of biomedical research innovation.

A need for standardized 3D models

In the course of his research, Dr. Daubon encountered a persistent challenge in obtaining reproducible, compact and consistent spheroids . Existing tools for generating 3D cell cultures often fell short in consistency and versatility.

This gap sparked an idea. What if there was a way to create uniform, reliable 3D cell structures, spheroids or organoids, without limitations on cell type?

Innovation in action:  The birth of SpheroTribe

From this idea, SpheroTribe was born. This all-in-one kit simplifies the generation of 3D cell structures. After rounds of development testing, the team perfected the formulation and optimized the complete usage protocol to achieve an ideal viscosity, easy to handle and  effective solution for reliable spheroid formation. With just a dilution of the methylcellulose-based SpheroTribe solution into the culture medium of choice, researchers can produce spheroids that are:

• Consistent in size

• Compatible with all cell types

• Ideal for a variety of downstream applications, including drug testing and mechanistic studies.

No complex protocols or additional tools are required, just science, simplified.

Collaboration with Idylle

Bringing innovation to the hands of researchers requires more than just a great idea. Through a partnership with our team. Dr. Daubon's concept became a polished, ready-to-use solution.

We helped standardize the production process and ensured that SpheroTribe is as user-friendly as it is effective. This collaboration bridges the gap between discovery and application, delivering tools that meet the needs of today’s researchers.
